Hello! I’m Gordon Smith

Chaplain

Gordon was the Senior Airport Chaplain and the CEO of Aviation Interfaith Ministry for 30 years. AIM was a society established for the Care and support of the Aviation Community at YYC (Calgary, AB)

Over the past 30 years Gordon developed a faith ministry at YYC.   During this time he raised funds and held many special events for the members of AIM and the staff at the airport.  During his years at YYC he appointed and trained over thirty chaplains.  And also, developed an Emergency Response Team “ERT” in case of an air disaster.

Gordon is a spiritual life coach and is happily married for 42 years. Gordon holds an inter-provincial license as a journeyman auto technician.  Gordon is a certified leader through Alberta Bible College.

He is also involved in the Rapid Response Team with the Billy Graham Association, a Certified Chaplain with the International Federation of Christian Chaplains, and Chaplain with the Fellowship of Evangelical Baptist Churches of Canada. For many years he was the area coordinator for Institute in Basic Life Principles and a Character coach. Gordon is the recipient of Golden Jubilee Medal and the Alberta Centennial Medal both in recognition for community involvement and service.

Gordon’s passion is helping others understand how God is reconciling the world to himself through Jesus Christ personally and globally. Studying God’s directions for life facilitates a walk in the spirit that fuels leadership, coaching and teaching. Implementing the ministry of reconciliation through actively wearing the full armor of God and living the life of an ambassador for Kingdom service. Gordon has chosen the field of chaplaincy to touch lives for eternity.

Hello! I’m Dr. Richard Horner, Ph.D

Chaplain

Dr. Richard Horner has a diversified background as a Bi-Vocational and Bible Based Minister.
His educational studies have included Industrial Engineering, Economics, Psychology and Theology, culminating with a Ph.D. and honorary Doctorate for Excellence in Pastoral Care, D.D.
As a mentor, coach, and counselor in the area of people development and leadership Richard is always ready to give a hand up to those who are in need.

Here at the Association of Christian Chaplains, with its main marketplace areas of Corporate Life, Ranch Life and Seniors’ Life he see a number of opportunities to serve.   His unique background and abilities will serve him well to connect immediately to each situation as he listens with compassion and understanding .

Richard plans to intentionally focus on assisting each one he encounters with Care Compassion and Concern.

Hello! I’m Elaine Horner, B.Th.

Chaplain

Elaine Horner comes to the Association of Christian Chaplains with a background in Nursing, Business, and Pastoral Care. She is also a mother of three adult daughters and 5 grandchildren.
As a Pastor’s wife she has had the privilege of providing mentorship, knowledge, and encouragement to those who so desperately wanted and needed to make a change in the direction they were going.
Working beside her husband for the past 50 years, they both have a huge heart to help people.
Elaine believes there is nothing more inspiring than encouraging others, watching them grow, and helping them take the next step on their journey. When one has been blessed in so many ways there is no reason not to “Pay It Forward”.  Regardless of where we are on our own personal walk we can always stop, have a listening ear, and give a hand up to those that we meet.
The Association of Christian Chaplains is an excellent opportunity for Elaine to share her gifts. Seeking the direction of God to serve the individuals she meets on this journey called life.
